DRAWBACKS

•    Not all breast cancers can be detected. Some cancers do not exist at the time of the study, are too small to see or are overlooked.
•    In some people, breast cancer grows so slowly that it would never cause them to suffer. Nevertheless, it can be detected in the examination. As a precaution, these people are treated.
•    You will receive a small amount of radiation during the examination. This amount corresponds to the amount of radiation you receive from your natural environment in three months.
•    Time is needed for the different radiologists to view the images. Waiting for the result can be unpleasant.
•    Each breast is briefly compressed between two plates. Some women find this uncomfortable or even painful. However, it is necessary to capture sufficiently sharp images with as little radiation as possible. The uncomfortable feeling has no long-term consequences.
